Jewelry 101Tinsel & TartansComment

It's happened, your favorite necklace has become entangled in itself and has managed to form a nice, happy little knot. Delightful…

Be cool, soda pop! We'll get through this together. Promise!

To get started, I'm just going to need you to find a well lit area and clean space to work on - like a white or black plate. Then grab either baby or olive oil and a pair of sewing needles or safety pins.

Ok! Ready, Set, Go!

  1. Place on your white/black surface and undo the clasp of the necklace.

    • If you have you have a jumbled knot of necklaces, unclasp each one.

  2. Gently spread out the loose ends of the necklace(s) to better see the knotted area.

  3. If the knot is manageable, start with your pair of needles or pins and begin carefully & delicately pulling apart the knotted area.

    • Stay steady & patient, this won't take too long. Just make sure not to tug or pull - you don't want to kink or break the chain of your necklace accidentally.

  4. If the knot becomes more difficult to manage, pour a small dab of your baby or olive oil onto the area and continue using needles/pins to pull apart.

    • You will need to clean your necklace(s) after using oil.  I've got you covered below!

And that's it! You've made it through to the other side. Pretty dang easy, right?!

Now if you were extra lucky and needed a little assistance in your knot-ical adventure. Here’s how to clean up:

  • It's easy, mix a few drops of mild dish soap in a dish of warm water.

  • Take a lint-free or microfiber towel and dip it into the liquid, then gently wipe/rub down the area covered in oil.

  • Rinse on in cool, clean water. (Remember to stop/plug the drain of your sink or rinse in a second bowl to avoid needing to Google how to remove the U-pipe of your sink. It only takes one time… or two if you're me.)

For real now, I'm done.

& I hope this was helpful!
